This is the closest you can get to being in New Orleans, without leaving the Midwest.
The décor sends you south, towards the bayou, as life-size crawdads and gators dance their way across the murals on the outside of the courtyard, and wrap around the building. Drinks straight off of Bourbon Street, like Horny Gators and Hurricanes, tempt you with their sugary danger. Beads dangle from the ceiling and every inch of the place oozes with NoLa charm. STL is home to the 2nd largest Mardi Gras celebration, and it is easy to imagine what this place looks like on Fat Tuesday, no doubt packed wall to wall with patrons.
Pescatarian diet? This place is perfect for oyster lovers. A dozen Blue Points go down easy for only a dollar apiece. There are also a wide variety of shrimp, crab, and crawfish dishes that may also satisfy all of your pescatarian dreams.
Shellfish makes you puffy or pukey? No worries, the menu featured plenty of fish-tastic, meat-focused, or veggie-forward options too. Though, it is worth mentioning the vegetarian menu is not extensive, so don’t think you can come here for a veggie feast.
Highly recommend the Catfish po’boy; that was definitely on point. Fish, cooked to perfection with crispy breading, gave way to a soft hoagie-like sandwich roll with just the right amount of chew.
Shrimps tacos and jambalaya may also catch your eye. Beware, the jambalaya is not vegetarian, so you may have to guiltily eat a few bites around the meat, before offering it up to the table if being a carnivore isn’t your thing.
This spot is also high on the list of top patios in STL; definitely a great spot for larger groups and summertime adventures. Word on the street is the live music hits hard so be sure to check out their calendar for dates and times of all the local bands singing the blues. Nothing more NoLa than big brass bands and music soaked streets.
